Loop 1: 12k to Dawson Park
First Leg of 34km Solo: the Full Meal Deal
First Leg of 34km Relay: the Meal in 3 Courses
or Option 1 of the Single Leg: Pick Your Poison

Leg 1 takes you upriver past Chad's fishing spots to Dawson Park where he and his pooch Eli enjoyed the company of other mutts. You’ll cross Gold Bar Park and hit the riverside wide dirt trail upstream to Capilano Park. Then take Capilano Footbridge across the North Saskatchewan River where you’ll continue upstream on the dirt trail past Highlands Golf Course, under Wayne Gretzky Drive, through Kinnaird Park and on to Dawson Park. About 6k out, you’ll check in with the volunteers at Dawson Park Checkpoint. It’s not a full aid station but there might be water if you need it.
Then across the historic Rowland Road Bridge and downriver on a riverside dirt trail past the aptly named Riverside Golf Course. Past Wayne Gretzky Drive, you cross the bottom of Fulton Creek Ravine and enter a stretch of winding, rolling single track. So far, Leg 1 was mostly flat so this gives you a chance to stretch those legs a bit on your way back to Capilano Park. Then its along the riverside trail through Capilano Park and into Gold Bar where you’ll complete a 12 Km loop at the Race HQ.

At Race HQ, runners find a buffet of liquid and solid treats as well as sympathetic volunteers to listen to your stories. If you’re in for the Full Meal Deal, you’re only 1/3 done so keep the stories short and head on to Leg 2: The Strathcona Loop.

If you’re the first runner in a relay team, hand off your token to your Leg 2 runner and watch them scamper off.

If you’ve chosen Leg 1 as your Pick Your Poison Solo, Congratulations! Pick up your medal so you can humble-brag as you hang out to cheer on other runners.
