Chad's Day for Change Urban Trail Race highlights the east end of our stunning river valley trail system, with a variety or single track and double wide trails and distances for every appetite. The race starts from Gold Bar Park and takes you out on 3 different loops: a 12Km loop to Dawson Park, a 12Km loop crossing the North Saskatchewan River into the Strathcona Science Park, and a 10Km loop into Goldstick Park. Each loop passes by some of Chad's favourite fishing spots, the trails he frequently used playing catch with his pooch Eli, and the parks where he'd catch frogs with his daughters Brook-Lyn and Taylor.

The Race has a variety of distances to choose from so as to include as many people as we can. The options you can choose from are as follows;

-34Km solo

-34Km relay

-12/10Km single loop solo (you pick your favourite!)

-5Km walk/run

-3Km kids event

This event is to honour the memory of Chad Evans, who we tragically lost on August 13, 2023 to his battles with mental health. We aim to encourage conversations about men's mental health issues, to bring awareness of the groups and resources that are out there to help them, and raise money to help those groups grow and continue to help our men. This year we are fundraising for HeadsUpGuys, an organization that offers valuable tools, information and education to the men that need them, and to the friends and families that need and want to help their men. Please find them online on our Facebook page or visit headupguys.org to see what they offer, and witness over 100 recovery stories from some of the men they have helped! Solo Full:

The full event for those with big appetites! All legs start and finish in Gold Bar park. Leg 1 takes you on a jaunt upriver past Chad's fishing spots to Dawson Park where he and his pooch Eli enjoyed the company of other mutts. Then back to Gold Bar, for a total of 12 Km. This is the flattest of the legs, but you'll see some windy single track to keep you nimble! Leg 2 starts out easy, crossing Ainsworth Dyer bridge to Rundle Park a for a smooth ride along the river bank. Cross another bridge into Strathcona Science Park to follow rolling, winding trails in the river valley forest. You reach the turnaround at another of Chad's fishing spot and back along the river bank to Goldbar for a 12 Km loop. Leg 3 is in the ravine trails of Goldstick Park. Take in the beauty along these single track and double wide trails before a long descent with a fantastic view as you finish the 10km loop. Solo entrants get the race T-shirt and finishers get a medal. (And RESPECT!) Take advantage of Early Bird Pricing - Register HERE

It's the flattest leg but has a section of winding single track to keep you nimble. Leg 2 is 12 km through Rundle Park and Strathcona Science Park. It has a bit more single track and a bit more elevation. Leg 3 is a 10 km jaunt on the winding, rolling ravine trails into Goldstick Park. Beautiful single track forest trails and a stunning view on the final descent. Kids Race 3km :

Of course we had to get the kiddos in there! They get to enjoy the festivities, while also seeing at a young age how we support the causes important to ourselves and the people we care about. Conversations about mental health and what we can do about it can be appropriate at many levels. We are all very excited about this event! All finishers will receive a medal.
